Uche Ignites Comfortable Palace Win at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Without star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their next match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, particularly following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season proved no match even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Control Established from the Start

In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, fizzing a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Wraps Up the Contest

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
